Do I need to mention how stressfully impossible it is to find a place to put your car in the bursting to capacity parking lot before you run at the last minute, with your hands full of your important papers, so frazzled as to look electrocuted, toward the cruise port. When you're done with that , huffing and puffing, you can get down to the misery of wondering if you really did lock the car. That's the way we like to have fun in our family.

Having shared our happy pretrip techniques with you, let me tell you what an Alaska cruise is like. First of all, sail in May, because that's when you get the beautiful snowy scenery. When we sailed past the fjords, sitting on deck with hot soup in our hands and beholding nature's most breathtaking vistas, we were filled with a feeling of real serenity.We even had the good fortune to see whales and sea otters. Just make sure your camera is all fired up, because you'll want pictures of everything. Our room was as nice as a hotel, and the supper club only $15 per person, was just great. Waterfalls, mountains, the whole vacation was just unforgettable.
