Amelia Island offers lavish resorts including a Ritz Carlton and the Amelia Island Plantation. Hosts of vacationers come to this northeast Florida Island to play tennis, get in a few rounds of golf and hang out on the Atlantic beaches. That is all very nice, but I found the real treasure of Amelia Island to be the carefully preserved Victorian architecture in the small town of Fernandina Beach and the superb state park at Fort Clinch. Naturally there are a host of Amelia Island Cruiseport Hotels, each  nicer than the last. You really must opt for a park and sail package here, for not only the savings over Amelia Island Cruise Port Parking, but for the relaxing opportunity to experience Amelia up close.
