For a relatively small airport, EUG is sort of clustered like a large one. The check-in process is rather inefficient, from the counter to leaving your bag in a special place to be scanned. For that alone I stood in line for 10 minutes.

There are many flights that leave around the same time early in the morning. Hence, the security lines are pretty long at that time. There is no priority line and certainly no TSA Precheck, but unfortunately, there is one of those highly annoying assault-on-your-health body scanners in place.

For personal travel, I don't recommend flying out of Eugene unless money is no object to you.  It is much cheaper to take Amtrak up to Portland and fly out of PDX.  Although, I have used this airport several times for business travel, and it is the most laid back, hassle-free airport ever.  One nonstop flight per day goes to/from SFO and LAX, but you will pay a premium for a direct flight. You will also pay right through your nostrils for Eugene Airport Parking. There are precious few EUG Airport hotels - if you want a park and fly, you can get one, but don't expect alot of choices in Eugene.

One can usually get by with arriving less than an hour ahead of time without worry. Check in is never a long wait, security is actually conducted by decent and personable employees, and the single terminal ensures you will not get lost or confused. Clean areas to sit and wait, watch CNN, utilize the free wi-fi or enjoy the view of evergreen hills and farmland. But, as I said, the service to it is outrageously expensive.  I recently spent $1000 on a roundtrip economy-class ticket from SF (not last minute).    There is nothing wrong with the airport itself, but unless you can afford to fly there, it doesn't matter.    Once the airlines stop price gouging, then I'll love it here, but until then, it is practically useless.
