This is a nice little airport. I was pleasantly surprised....pre-terminal Starbucks, Hudson News, a few food options, a Mississippi gift store in case you didn't find enough tacky tchotchkes to take home already. The whole place is super clean, easy in and out through security, and free wi-fi with ample outlets. Not bad, Mississippi. This airport clearly was redone with post 09.11 Homeland Security funds and anyone who flies through benefits.

Downstairs the small baggage claim is right across from the rental car counters making the whole thing a snap! Plus you walk right out to the car. This is in my opinion the benefit of well run small airports. Easy in and out, no shuttles, etc. I was on my way in no time. Need a nice JAN Airport hotel? Even though its a small town, there are plenty of noce places to stay. And - southern hospitality, baby.

It seems like hardly anyone goes in or out of here, so the whole place feels like a library. Kind of weird, but also kind of nice. Only 9 gates and some not even in use, but they managed to get a Starbucks? Love that.

Hey, if you are a little early for your flight there is a Medgar Evers exhibit in the middle of both ends of security next to the Delta ticket counters. You should walk though and have a look before you go, it's interesting, informative, and powerful.

The Jackson International Airport Parking garage is a nice size..never full and easy to walk across to the terminal. It has a lower level for the baggage claim area and rental car service...all the big boys..National/Avis/Herz/Budget.  Just because Jackson MS is a small town, the rental cars are more expensive then other places .   Reserve on-line for a better deal.  Restrooms on both ends of the airport , too.
