Remember you are at the Disney World airport, so if you don't like kids, don't come! Not sure if that contributes to the longer than usual security lines that move teeth-clenchingly slowly. They seem to do a worse job here with security than what's typical. If you can get past that, the airport is not too bad. It has a very open feel with a nice little shopping area. The gate areas can be a little small.  With that being said, if you ever get stuck there due to bad weather, prepare to have nowhere to sit with lots of screaming kids running around. It's happened to me and I always get a little nervous with layover in Orlando.

I don't check a bag, ever - that's for rookies. (If you need more than a carry on - ship your package, it's cheaper, easier at the airport, you can pack your 4 oz bottle of lotion, and you can count on it being there when you arrive. If you absolutely MUST check a bag then use the sky cap on the curb. TIP THEM). Anyway, because I don't check I skip straight to the security line and am always a little puzzled that at least one line is not operating. I DO however appreciate the CLEAR line that is available here. You are "pre-screened" and get to jump to the head of the line. (Again, a note - I am not a CLEAR member [there are not enough of them at other airports yet] and am not saying you should become one - just telling you what's available).

Also, there were tons of outlets to charge you stuff before you get onboard. Orlando Airport Parking is EXPENSIVE, but by now you know I always get my free vacation parking thrown in with my (LOVE IT) hotel and parking package, so I'm sorry for all y'all that don't know about that, but parking is not one of my problems.
I'd say that this airport is better than LGA but not better than JFK. Of course, there are a jillion Orlando Airport Hotels listed for hotel and parking happy-making savings thingies, so knock yourself out .

Watch out for kids jumping around and darting in front of you pulling mini-suitcases that serve no purpose other than to trip people running for a boarding call. These children are often unhappy since they are leaving Disney. Their parents are not paying attention to them because they've just spent a week at a theme park with their kids and need a drink. That's when the planning of this place can be a little better appreciated as you can 'escape' into a shop or restaurant/bar near your gate where you can (usually) hear the calls for boarding.
