Well done Sac International, welcome to the big leagues!

Gone are the days of the icky food court and poorly lit terminals.  The newly renovated Terminal B is as beautiful as a terminal could be.  The whole experience starts with SMF Airport parking, which is much better and more travel friendly, but don't worry, its still unaffordable.  Then you enter the terminal which is so sparkly new.  Plan ahead for morning flights and allow yourself extra time to get through security and to take the little tram (yes, there's a tram). although the tram is a bit much.  I mean really?  A tram to get to the actual terminal and it doesn't even connect to the old one?  Kinda lame.  Security here can always have long lines.  That's why I strongly recommend never traveling without airline status.  It just makes everything so, well easy. Also, there are some really nice Sacramento International Airport hotels right nearby, for your park and fly!

If you're not traveling at the crack of dawn and you have some time to kill before your flight, you should check out the great new additions to the airport.
Some of Midtown Sacramento's finest restaurants and bars adorn Terminal B.  Esquire Grill, Cafeteria 15L, Burgers and Brew, Jack's Urban Eats, and then there's Vino Volo for those wine lovers.  I love having a drink and an appetizer at Cafeteria 15L before a flight, that's if you can find a seat.  The staff are super friendly and the food and drinks are always great!  
If drinks and apps are not your scene then walk around the terminal and admire the large scale art work that has been added.  There are also many shops to look through to pass some time.
Terminal B has received a much needed face-lift and is better than ever!
