Things to do in South Carolina
  1. Historic Charleston
The city of Charleston in the state of South Carolina is dense with a history that ranges back to times before even the revolutionary war. Explore the fascinating past of this burgeoning city through amazing architecture throughout the centuries, towering lighthouses, fascinating museums and more.

  2. Heritage Corridor Region 3 Discovery Center
The Union army, when under the command of General William T. Sherman, made its crossing over the Savannah River in the year of 1865, with the goal of wiping out this entire area. Learn about these failed campaigns and more in a prevalent area. Other features of the museum include interactive displays depicting the quaint countryside of the region, as well as its history.

  3. Myrtle Beach
One of South Carolina's prime destinations is Myrtle Beach, a relaxing environment where people from all over come to enjoy the sun and the aura of this world-famous beach. Gorgeous sands, numerous golf courses, and a tempting array of nearby attractions including aquariums and even an amusement park give ample reason for vacationers to South Carolina to visit this world-famous destination.

  4. Myrtle Beach Pavilion Amusement Park
You've come to South Carolina and you find yourself in Myrtle Beach, yet you're seeking something a little more thrilling than what the sunny beaches have to offer. Turn around - an entire amusement park is right behind you! Myrtle Beach Pavilion Amusement Park features over 30 rides which range from relaxing to stomach-turning. Thrills abide for everyone at this amusement destination in South Carolina which has been dubbed “The Coney Island of the South”.

  5. Wild Water - Water and Race Theme Park
Why come to this 16-acre state-of-the-art amusement park? Well, we think that already the answer should be somewhat clear. But to clarify even more, the park features 33 thrilling rides which range from high-speed flumes to a wipeout wave pool and a complete kids' water playground. After getting drenched, dry off during a game of miniature golf.

  6. The New Charleston Lighthouse
    Charleston, SC
Located in the historic city of Charleston, the New Charleston Lighthouse is at once an ode to the way things were and an ode to the way things are progressing. One of the premier historic locations in South Carolina, the Charleston Lighthouse was built in 1767, but was destroyed in the Civil War. A reconstruction began in 1874 and was completed in 1876, leaving visitors the monument which stands erect today.

  7. Fort Sumter National Monument
There are many historical facts describing Fort Sumter, but it is most famous for being the location of the first shots fired of the Civil War. Yes, the primary engagement of this epic American war took place at Fort Sumter, which is still intact for visitors' intrigues in the present day. View the Fort, which has since been dubbed a national monument.

  8. Dupont Planetarium
This planetarium is housed at the Ruth Patrick Science Education Center, squat in the center of the campus of USC-Aiken. As such, it serves the educational community in an invaluable way: allowing students and the public, as well as academicians and night sky-observers to view the heavens from one of the clearest locations in the country. State-of-the-art technology and an impressive graphics projector make any visit to the planetarium worth remembering.

  9. Sumter County Museum
Learn about the fascinating regional history of Sumer County at the Sumter County Museum. The Old Sumter District is put on living display through riveting exhibits, live history, and special programming which will delight all. The museum's location in a 1916 Williams-Brice House makes it all the more historical, and activities in the Carolina Backcountry Homestead will bring history to life for guests of all ages.

  10. Spartanburg County Museum of Art
Have you come to the state of South Carolina to experience the artistic world which the state affords visitors? Hop on the nearest train, plane, car or bus to the city of Spartanburg, where you'll find the Spartanburg County Museum of Art. With three galleries offering exhibits of local, regional and national artists and a steady collection of 20th-century masters, there's no reason not to make a stop off at this cultural experience.

Although its not really on any traditional list of places to see, I'm partial to the UFO Welcome Center in Bowman, SC. Who wouldn't want some photos of THAT?
